CAMP CO-DIRECTOR: Cynthia Hernandez

Cynthia Hernandez was part of Santa Clara high’s CIF Championship team in 2011 and was an integral part of the 2014 Ventura College Pirate state championship team. She was a sharpshooter extraordinaire as a sophomore, leading the nation and setting a program record with 115 made 3-pointers. She also set a record for 3-point efficiency, shooting 46.7 percent from behind the arc while earning second-team CCCWBCA All-State honors and Ventura County Athlete of the year. She finished her VC career second in 3-point percentage and fifth in 3-pointers made.

Hernandez continued her academic and playing careers at Rutgers University of the Big 10 Conference. She helped lead the Scarlet Knights to the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a junior where they fell to eventual national champion UConn. Hernandez returned home to begin her coaching career at VC for 3 years and soon landed back at Buena for 3 years as head coach. Hernandez has worked hard for a B.A in Labor and Management Relations, M.A in Sports Management and Kinesiology, and a Masters in education from Grand Grand University. Hernandez is now working for the City of Oxnard for Youth and Adult sports as a Recreation Specialist.
